NIH Graduate Partnerships Program

The NIH Office of Intramural Training & Education (OITE) was developed to enhance the training experience of students and fellows at the NIH. With Training Offices in each of the NIH Institutes and Centers, they help trainees develop scientific and professional skills that will benefit them as future leaders in the biomedical research community. The Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) exists within OITE and is designed to provide opportunities for graduate students to join the NIH Intramural Research Program for some or all of their dissertation research. The goal of the GPP is to provide a different kind of graduate experience that focuses on training the next generation of scientific leaders.

Scholars accepted to the NIH MD/PhD Partnership Training Program have access to all of the resources available through OITE and the GPP. Scholars are encouraged to participate in events and take advantage of the academic and social resources available through these offices. MD/PhD scholars are also allowed to participate in any of the GPP Institutional Partnerships or develop an Individual Partnership for the PhD portion of their training. Most students in the MD/PhD Partnership Training Program have elected to participate in the NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program, which partners with the MD/PhD Program.

If you would like to learn more about the other Institutional Partnerships or an Individual Partnership, please contact the GPP Office.
